Inktober Day... Fifteen?

Doing something a bit different today, three little sketches. Two are 20-25 minute studies with a pencil and the other is a little brush-and-ink sketch.

I've used a bit more hatching and took my time with these drawings, getting in that serious mood of drawing again, remove the cobwebs I've seemed to develop.

Close up of the left-most one.
The source photographs. Iunno where i got them, I just know I have these from some folder in my laptop called "Hyperangle".

Inktober Day Nine

Welp. I lost a day. I was just too lazy. Sorry.

Jeez, I've gotten lazy.

Ghastly feet. Sheesh.

Inktober Day Six

Hello, hello. Day six has rolled by and I haven't missed a day yet. Excellent.

I don't think I'll continue mixing heavy brushwork with fine lines. Too much of a clash. Still iffy on fine lines with chunky marker-like lines, we'll see in the black-and-white scans of my current project. Maybe it just looks like trash on paper. Certainly not the first time that's happened.

Inktober Day 5

Felt like I jobbed this one. The foreshortening and perspective are off, I could have fixed it but I didn't really feel like it. My fault, really. Apparently, my gestures have been quite stiff and well... crap as of late. I should work on that. Comments such as that are expected, I haven't been able to really work on my art lately. It's sad. Oh well... I'll work on it. Will I be able to do it during school time, on my last year with all of its horrors? We'll see.

The first pic was a bit of an homage to Wrightson, Gilbert Hernandez and Alex Toth. I was thinking of them when I drew those. The second was just a fun little character sketch in honor of Kirby with some Mignolan effects (psst, look at the feet).

Said inspirational pics that informed how I drew these at the very back of my head.

Sorry for the crappy quality on this one, there just aren't any good scans of this thing on google and I'm too lazy to fish out an e-book version and extract that for this. Hopefully Toth's inks on Infantino here are noticeable enough to feel where I'm coming from though.

Inktober Day Four

WHOOPS! Forgot to upload these yesterday. My bad! Prompts coming from the usual sources. Will post Day 5 later.

Inktober Day Three

Day Three of Inktober, I now use both Jay Parker's prompts as well as this new one I've found. I found it in a Discord group I'm a part of. It's not bad.
With the Jay Parker prompts as well as this one in consideration, I drew something relating to poison as well as one about a banshee. Here you go.
Decided to be more symbolic, kinda superficially, with this one. Search for "Amorsolo Ginebra" on whatever search engine you want and you might understand. It's really not that hard.

Inktober Day Two

Here I decided to go with a more DC theme drawing. Since the theme, as Jay Parker suggested in his prompts, was divided, one of the first things that came to my mind when it said "divided" what's Two-Face of Batman rogues gallery fame. One may attribute the utilization of DC properties to our YouTube video I just watched a while ago that dealt with DC comics thus the usage of Two-Face. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xRDiUD1a8c, the video in question)

Inktober Day One (posted a biiiiit late, sorry)

This is the set of prompts I'm using for this years Inktober. You can kinda see the source on the bottom, it's from Jake Parker's website. Go look at it and crap. The first word was "swift". As such, I've drawn a man swiftly get away from the little rat.

I Got Something Fun from a Book Fair

I haven't seen some of this material. New (for me) Mike Mignola stuff is always great, his 80s and early 90s stuff especially. I'm only really familiar with his latter career. Seeing his shift from then to what he does now is just amazing. So much he dropped since those earlier days and so much that he retained and refined over the years.
Good mister Mignola used a lot more profile shots back then, a lot more empty shots too. The hatching he was doing a lot even in the latter parts of his pencilling career but it was done a lot more in these times. His art, last two pics, was real different too. It's too noodley and meticulous in the linework and detail. It's likely the inkers.

Hath not a Sketchbook drawings? III

Some character designs for a comic I'm working on between projects.

The robed fellow's design isn't his final. There are some (uncommitted to paper as of yet) other designs. The guy in the fancier looking clothing? His design is final. It's just an adaptation of another person's design unto paper but with my drawing sensibilities building it up than its original basis.

Below one can see the thumbs of the project. These are the preliminary thumbs. They're now covered with notes for the changes that should happen to them. I may post the changed thumbs in a week or two and keep doing that until it's all good. It'll be then a matter of working out the composition in the more complicated shots before final drawing.

Hath not a Sketchbook drawings? II

I haven't been able to draw much. University and all. Still, I made a few pieces of art and drew some stuff.

I was helping a friend out with her comic. It was standard and worked well enough but I just had to rip into the lettering. One of the characters were two people in one, or something to that effect, and when they talk they kinda speak at the same time and overlap over one another. How she pulled it off was.... less than optimal. So I quickly crapped these out to help her out and give her some direction. Hopefully they went to some use.

Not long after drawing this, after some time being dormant from drawing, I started craving it again.

A friend sent me this to try and draw, so I did. Bellow you'll see a tiny doodle in ink. It's from a Platinum CF-2000 (or something) Brush pen which I filled with Rotring Technical pen ink. The feed mechanism was almost marker like and I just had to test it out if it'll work. It's been a week, maybe less, and it seems to work well enough. Seems... Will update as time goes on.

The original picture. I didn't feel like trying to capture the thing 100%. Instead I focused on trying to be as clean with my lines as possible. As clean and mechanical. I THINK I did a good job.

That's all for now. Quick, little update.
